Biggleswade FC Reserves claim Premier Division supported by Sportsform League Crown |
Premier Division supported by Sportsform Biggleswade FC Reserves were today crowned the Bedfordshire County Football League 2021-22 season Premier Division supported by Sportsform champions without even kicking a ball. The day started for them as early as 7am when Shefford Town & Campton Reserves notifed the league that they could not raise a side to entertain them at Rectory Road and the duly awarded three points saw them move onto the top of the league standings. Now all they required to be crowned champions was for both Crawley Green Reserves away at second from bottom of the table Riseley Sports and Sharnbrook away at bottom of the table AFC Kempston Town and Bedford College to both drop points. Riseley Sports without a win in their last seven starts did their bit for The FC by holding The Green to a 2-2 draw. Lewis Donald netting both of the goals against replies via Rashaun Rattigan and Jacob Younger. The Town going even one better by ending their six game losing run by beating Sharnbrook who were unbeaten in their last 13 starts 3-2. Anas Bechkoum netting twice and Sam Phillips once against Sharnbrook replies from James Barron and Tom O'Neill all of which means The FC were crowned champions on goal difference from Crawley Green Reserves with Sharnbrook just two points adrift in third spot. Over at Harvey Close, Caldecote made it five home wins on the bounce with a 7-1 victory over Marston Shelton Rovers to claim a fourth place finish by jumping over Elstow Abbey in the table. Giuseppe Follano netting four times and Daniel Fennell three times against a lone Rovers reply via George Maisy. All this coming following the teams going in at half-time even at 1-1. Whilst Flitwick Town were the 4-2 home winners over Queens Park Crescents. Callum Jones with a brace plus single goals from Martin Byrne and Kaine Park doing the damage against Crescents replies via an own goal and Mohammed Raheem. Elsewhere, Stevington ended a five game losing run with a 5-0 home victory over Cranfield United. Division One The lone Division One action saw Totternhoe Reserves prior to kick off form a guard of honour to welcome Division One champions Stotfold Development onto the pitch at Dunstable Road. That was where the respect ended as goals from Jordan Alexander and Jake Daley took the Totts to a 2-0 win to see them finish the season in sixth place. Division Two supported by Hy-Pro Renhold ensured they would finsh the season in third spot with a 3-1 home victory over AFC Oakley Reserves who will now finish one spot below them. Liam Newton, Roshan Chagger and Neville Allen on the home scoresheet to leave them on a six game unbeaten home run against a lone reply from Mark Thynne. Whilst Harlington Juniors were granted the three points that will now see them now finish in sixth place after Soccerlise were unable to raise a side to travel for their meeting at Sundon Road, jumping above FC Haynes who likewise could not raise a side to entertain legue champions Clifton at Northwood End Road. Division Five For Wootton Blue Cross U23's it was a 2-1 away win at Clifton Reserves to take them to the top of the league standings on goal difference from Sporting Carpathians Reserves who still have one more game to play. Callum Myers and Ben Peachey on the Cross scoresheet against a lone home reply via Ali Moatt. Whilst third place Newman United ended their season by winning 8-1 at Sandy Reserves. Sam Woodman leading the way with four goals, Ryan Moynihan netting twice and single goals coming the way of Callum Sword-Kelly and Andrew Martin. Watson Shield Final Sporting Carpathians duly lifted this seasons Watson Shield with a 3-1 victory over FC Polonia (Luton) ahead in the 8th minute via Marcel Buruiama that's the way it stayed until with just eight minutes left Rafal Zawisian levelled matters and a penalty shoot out looked on the cards. Alas not to be for the FC with the Carpathians scoring twice in the last two minutes first via an header from Jordan Thomas and then 60 secons later a strike from Michael Brako. League President Barry Watson being on hand to hand over the Shield duly accompanied by management committee member Marcus Baxter. |
