League Cup Action gets underway for the 2025-26 Season. |
Britannia Cup 1st Round The result of the round belonged to Biggleswade United Reserves who with a brace of goals from Fenton Williams and a strike from Seyram Hammond were the 3-2 home winners over Harlington Juniors for whom Greg Bennett replied with a brace. There was no such joy across the town with Biggleswade FC Reserves falling to a 0-2 home defeat at the hands of Caldecote for whom Evan Beldon bagged both goals. For the current holders AFC Oakley it was a straight passage into round two after Shefford Town & Campton Reserves failed to raise a side to travel to meet them. Whilst the current Premier Division supported by Sportsform league leaders Cranfield United Reserves required just a goal from Sean Byrne to win 1-0 at Queens Park Crescents. For Totternoe Reserves with goals from Akshat Jain and Ellis Holden it was a 2-1 home victory over Flitwick Town Reserves for whom Leighton Edwards replied. Whilst Marston Shelton Rovers with a brace from Harry Baker and a strike from Jamie Snapes were the 3-2 home winners over Stopsley United whose goals came via William Coote and Adam Hughes. Elsewhere the only game to go to a penalty shoot-out came at Gold Street where following a 3-3 draw visitors Elstow Abbey emerged the 5-4 spot winners over the hosting Riseley Sports.for whom Alex Taylor hit a brace to go alongside a goal from Tyler Prince with the Abbey goals coming from Lewis Parkin, Marko Tobdzic and Steven Gentle. Division One The lone action of the afternoon saw Thurleigh fail to close the gap at the head of the league standings on Baldock Victoria when their 11 game unbeaten run was ended with a 2-1 defeat at Blunham who are now unbeaten in their last six outings. Connor Heaps and Ben Moore marking the home scoresheet against a lone reply from Charlie Hurley. Centenary Cup 1st Round The biggest winners of the day were Wootton Blue Cross Reserves with a 5-0 victory at Caldecote Reserves. George Armstrong with a hat-trick and goals from Alfie Stoughton and Kai Yeomans bringing up the nap hand. Whilst Bedford Albion ran out 4-0 away winners at FC Haynes with a hat-trick from Nathan France and a strike from Daniel Jeffries. ( post match it was established the Albion had played an ineligible layer so it will be FC Haynes whose name will go into the hat for the 2nd round draw ) The same fate was also to fall upon Lu Donz who after a home 5-3 penalty shoot-out victory over Baldock Viictoria following a 4-4 draw they also were found to have used an ineligible player. Cameron Saunders with a brace plus David Byass and Reece Hilton on the Donz scoresheet and Paul Morris with a hat-trick and Liam Thompson replying for the visitors. For Lea Sports PSG it was a walkover into round two when Clifton failed to raise a side to journey to meet them. Whilst Kempston United were the 2-0 home winners over AFC Oakley Development with goals from Rhys Popham and Ajani Thomas -Anderson. Division Two With the Westoning Reds v Queens Park Crescents game postponed due to a waterlogged pitch the only action of the afternoon saw a 1-1 draw between Wixams Wanderers and the visiting Kempston Athletic. Louis Hartford-Smith with the home goal against a reply from Hayden Bartram for the Athletic. Jubilee Cup 1st Round With a brace of goals from Jack Konopka, Stotfold Junior were the 2-1 home winners over Flitwick Town Reserves whose goal came from Ibraima Balde. Whilst Bedford SA required a 4-3 penalty shoot-out success to emerge the home winners over St Josephs (Saturday ) following a 2-2 draw. Sheema Dixon with a brace for the SA against Joe's replies via Harry Bermington and Decian Fennelly. With a brace from Max Natola and a goal from Jack Perry Green End Rovers won 3-0 at AFC Bedford United before post match it was established they had used a ineligible player and as a consequence it will be AFC Bedford United who will go forward to round two. Watson Shield 1st Round With a brace of goals from Jacob Hepton and strikes from Max Ellis and Harry Griffiths Cranfield IUnited Development were the 4-0 away winners at Flitwick Eagles. Whilst For Atletic FC it was a 4-2 home victory over AFC Clophill . Jason Allison, Moydean Banda, Cameron Browne and Gershom Makombe all found the back of the net against AFC replies from Hayden Stringer and Callum Hughes-Forde .Also scoring four on home soil were Turvey who with goals from Alfred Dawson from the penalty spot plus Owen Hubbard, Max Norman and Freddie Stonebridge to beat Everton Athletic 4-3 whose replies came from Jack Guiver, James Scott and Logan Smith. Not needing to kick a ball to progress into the next round were Dunstable Wanderers after The 61 FC Luton Reserves failed to raise a side to meet them and likewise M&DH Clapham Sports after Dunstable Town U18 Lions withdrew from the competition. With goals from Thomas Giggle and Jonathan Hill,.Flitwick Town A won 2-1 at Everton Athletic Reserves who reply came from Michael Freeman.Yet Stopsley United Reserves required a 4-1 penalty shoot-out success to emerge the winners at Catsbrook Wanderers after 90 minutes play had seen the sides deadlocked at 3-3. Jamel Matthews twice and Jason McDonagh marking the Wanderers scoresheet. There were two away victories for Bedfordshire Saturday Youth League sides, Leighton Town Youth U18 the 6-2 winners at Leighton Woodside Athletic whose goals came from Alfie Thorne and Josh Walduck. Whilst Leighton Park Rangers U18 Foxes won 4-2 at Queens Park Crescents Development., the home goals came from Haider Abbasi and Sam Young. Elsewhere, Westoning Blues needed a 6-5 penalty shoot-out success to emerge the winners at Wymondley Park U17 Panthe following a 4-4 draw where Freddie Hunt netted all four goals. Bedfordshire FA Junior Cup Quarter-Finals It was a day for being on the road with both games going the way of the visitors. DTCC FC won 5-2 at Wilstead to earn a home last four encounter with Ampthiill Town Colts who won 2-0 at Bedford Albion Development thanks to goals from Sam Wild and Lennan Pilgrim. For DTCC FC it was braces from Reese Brogan and Luke Janes plus a goal from Louie Blake that brought up their nap hand at Wilstead where Colin Marshall hit both of the home replies. Division Four Going big were AFC Kempston Hammers Reserves who following three straight defeats were 6-0 home winners over M&DH Clapham Sports Reserves who are still in search of their first victory of the season and remain rooted to the bottom of the league table. The Hammers goals being bagged by Marcus Earey, Brendan Pettit, Matthew Capener, Robert Goodman, Kian Morey and Dylan Steffens. Whilst gaining their first point of the season following 12 straight defeats were second from bottom of the table Wootton Blue Cross A who drew 2-2 at Meltis Rangers. Joe Holmes and Benjamin Smith marking their scoresheet against Rangers replies from Kyle Lewis and Tyrell O'Connor. |
