Saturday 4th May 2024. Premier Division supported by Sportsform Having claimed the league title in midweek, Caldecote ensured they would remain unbeaten on the road for the season by concluding their season with a 3-1 away victory at Biggleswade FC Reserves thanks to goals from Elliot Bunday, Giuseppe Follano and Chris Richardson against a lone home reply from Rafel Sabado Miles. Division One The 2023-24 season was brought to a close in a totally unsatisfactorily manner when Bedford Albion despite having 83 players registered for the season failed to raise a side to journey to face Totternhoe Reserves., thus gifting the home side the three points which duly took them to the Division One league title on goal difference above second place Wootton Blue Cross. Whilst Clifton will now finish in the top six following their 6-1 victory at Bedford SA thanks to goals from Matty Nugent, Callum Saunders, Elliot Powell, Reece Stokes, Cameron Lewis and Josh Adams. The lone home goal coming from Ollie Hughes. Division Two South Caddington were to emerge the afternoon's biggest winners with a 4-2 home victory over Stotfold Junior to extend their unbeaten ways up to five games. Dan Fleming, Rayvaun Brodgett, James Ray and Isaac Okello all finding the back of the net against Junior replies via an own goal and Harrison Donnelly. Whilst Bletchley Scot took their winning ways up to four games with a 3-2 home success over Brache Phoenix..Cleon Tshikuna, Ryan Williams and Dale Fround all found the back of the net with Nana Boffah and Rupert Nderitu marking the Phoenix scoresheet. Elsewhere, having lost their previous eight games Flitwick Town Reserves returned to winning ways in ending their season with a 3-2 home victory over second from the bottom of the table FC Polonia ( Luton ) Ibraima Balde, Bradley Johnson and Benn Ward found the back of the net for the Town, whilst bottom of the table The 61 FC (Luton ) Reserves concluded their campaign in going down 0-2 at home to a New Bradwell St Peter Development side who were taking their unbeaten ways up to six games thanks to a brace of goals from Ted Brown. Division Two Play-Off Final Before a sun kissed crowd of 150 at Cranfield United's Crawley Road ground, Division Two South champions Stopsley United emerged the hard fought 3-1 winners over Division Two North champions Ickwell & Old Warden to claim the overall 2023-24 season Division Two league crown. James Potter shooting the United ahead in the 28th minute before Ickwell levelled matters with just 14 minutes left to play with a goal from Joel Jeff and with United's Ryan Northwood red carded just two mintues later it seemed the boys from the Green were now in the driving seat, alas for them United showed just why they had been beaten just once this season by retaking the lead in the 88th minute via Connor Waite and adding to the tally in stoppage time with a third goal from Mikey Carter. Division Three supported by Hy-Pro With Harlington Junior Reserves having been deducted five points in midweek for breach of rules in their recent game with Caldecote A and in effect handing the league title to the boys from Harvey Close, the newly crowned league champions ended their season in being beat 0-4 at home by a Luton Panthers side who will now finish the season in third place thanks to goals from Pedram Pishdar, Faith Zih and Cameron Tree. Monday 6th May 2024 Britannia Cup Final Before a Kempston Rovers Hillground crowd of 310, Elstow Abbey were to retain their hold of the Britannia Cup with a narrow 2-1 victory over Stotfold Development. Rather against the run of play Lewis Parkin shot the Abbey ahead some 25 minutes into the action which then was to explode into action in the opening 10 minutes of the second period. Just one minute into the action Parkin was to head the Abbey 2-0 ahead before five minutes later it seemed to be all up for Stotfold when the Abbey were awarded a penalty. Not so, Development goalkeeper Ibrahim Rashid getting down well to beat away Dan Mattin's kick to keep his side in the game. Just four minutes later it really was game back on when Charlie Mallett reduced the arrears to 2-1. However a combination of stout defending by the Abbey and some poor finishing by the Development saw no further goals Division Two South For fourth place LU Donz it was a 6-1 home victory over Bletchley Scot , a result that leaves them requiring a win from their last game this coming weekend to lift themselves into a third spot finish for the season. Nash Bennett and Troy Walker both netting braces alongside single goals from Daniel Neilson and Cameron Saunders against a lone Scot reply from Ben Swepston. Whilst Stopsley United ended their championship winning season with a 0-0 home draw against a Caddington side who were taking their unbeaten ways up to six games. |
