Bedfordshire County Football League

Just when we thought it could not get any worse - Bedfordshire is now in Tier 4 and all football has to be postponed, including training.
All matches are off for 28th December. Although the tier review on the 30th December may put Bedfordshire back into tier 3, it will probably be too late for clubs to make arrangements for 2nd January. However, it is more likely we will miss the 9th January also. The Management Committee, with advice from Bedfordshire FA, will consider the situation following each Government Tier Review.

No football - no groups of people indoors - no groups larger than 2 outdoors - not able to go to the pub - Christmas arrangements messed up for many. So to bring a little cheer, and probably much controversy, the Bedfordshire County FL are bringing back [from TV] THE POOLS PANEL.

This is what we are thinking about. A simple VIRTUAL TABLE to follow each normal day of fixtures - the next one being Monday 28th December though the panel will sit tomorrow to consider the outcome of matches postponed yesterday [see attachment] with the first virtual table published on the LEAGUE WEBSITE [www.bedfordshirefootballleague.co.uk] on Tuesday. The POOLS PANEL, Chair Peter Francis, Richard Horswell and myself will determine the possible result of each postponed match [HOME, AWAY, DRAW] and in the case of any inconclusive deliberation, Peter will have the final say. We shall publish 'the results' and a virtual table on match days around the time matches would normally finish.

I will continue to schedule matches on FULL TIME which will either be played or the 'pools panel' will need to sit. We will need to think of a way to bring it to a close when matches are back on, but that is for later. Apart from scheduling matches, the FULL TIME WEBSITE WILL NOT BE UPDATED, except to record the postponements, which will then be rearranged for some later date. No match will come to the Pools Panel twice, so if it went [heaven forbid] right through the season, all matches will have a 'result'. No prizes - no promotions or relegations, just a bit of light hearted fun over the next few weeks.

There is no appeal against any decision of the POOLS PANEL.

Following the publication of the new [from 19th December] tier 3 areas, confirmation has been received that the local Tier 3 area is BEDFORD. CENTRAL BEDS, LUTON and MILTON KEYNES,
Within this area fixtures will continue as scheduled. However, until another tier review relaxes restrictions, fixtures will not be scheduled to be played at any ground outside the above Tier 3 area. Furthermore, players cannot move from outside this tier 3 area to play matches within the area.
The league will consider requests for postponements from club covid-19 officers where teams are affected by the pandemic.

To all Clubs and Management Committee Members
As you may have heard, Bedfordshire is now in Covid-19 Tier 3. The advice from the County FA is that football can continue within the County of Bedfordshire, However, although neighbouring Counties may also be in Tier 3, travel between these tier 3 areas is either not allowed or not allowed or is certainly discouraged,
The Bedfordshire County FL has taken this advice and therefore fixtures will not be scheduled for the time being for the teams outside the Bedfordshire border. This affects fixtures scheduled for Saturday 19th December 2020 and Monday 28th December. Fixtures for the 2nd January 2021 onwards will be reviewed after any Tier review.
All other fixtures remain on UNLESS the Covid Officers for each opposing team cannot agree to play because of Covid-19 related matters. In these cases the League will postpone that particular match.
Meanwhile, stay safe and enjoy the Christmas period as best you can. With a cautious and sensible approach to the forthcoming matches we may yet get the end of the season!
